logos, logos, and more logos...

We are still working on our final project, which is making logos. I feel like by the need of my senior year I am going to be able to make logos in my sleep. I am ready to move on and do other things. This is the last time our class will meet before the exam, so that is exciting. I have to do a lot of blogging this weekend cause I still need like eight more.. boooo....

meh..

Our monsters were due today, in the first class. I also started on our final project by registering on two different logo competition sites. We have to compete in three different competitions. The winners are awarded money, so it would defiantly be nice to win one. I think I'm going to continue entering these competitions during the summer. Maybe if I enter enough I might actually win something :)

Almost the end..

So, this semester is almost over.. THANK GOODNESS. I am soooo ready for summer!!! I have enjoyed the graphic design class we had this semester but I am ready to move on and learn more. I reallyyyyyy wish we didn't have an eight o'clock class next semester, but I guess I'll just have to get over it... I am taking Painting 1 next semester and I am so pumped!!! My best friends got Illustrator on his mac, so I am excited to be able to practice with it over the summer. I also want to mess around with Photoshop some. I'm hoping to get a new camera over the summer...maybe a D60 or 90...so I can practice and experiment with photography some more. Photography is one of my passions, but I haven't really done much with it this past year. So, I'm ready to get back in the groove of things. The photo to the right is one of my favorites that I've taken. I took it in Orvieto, Italy which is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Monster

This is a picture of the final product of my monster. I really like how it ended up looking. It was fun to make and I really enjoyed working with the pen tool. All the hair on my monster is done using the pen tool. I added the braces to make my monster different everyone else. I also like that it has two different color eyes. Anyways, This is my monster and it is AWESOME!

Under the Sea

The next project we have to do is a shapes project. We were given 8 shapes and told to make a scene of some type out of them. We aren't allowed to alter the shapes in any way. All we can do is change the size, color and add gradient. I have decide to do an under the sea theme. The favorite part of my end product is the shark. I think he turned out really cool. I think this was my favorite project to work on thus far.

Mr. Sparkle

Soo...I know my blogs are really random and unorganized. I just find random projects that we worked on and forgot to blog about. For example: Mr. Sparkle...This project was fun to work on, but kind of difficult. I was for a guys business selling something for shower doors. I didn't really end up liking any of the logos I made. They are to detailed and just too much. I kind of like the colored one but I don't like how the part on the right looks like an i.

We added our fonts to awesome backgrounds. We followed tutorials in order to make these pretty awesome looking backgrounds. The one I chose to do was called knife background. However, it looks more like a big hairball or I think it looks like a sunshine. I made the background a gradient of 3 different color blues then put the knife texture over top of the background in white. I added the lolly pop text I made to the bottom left of the box and the end product looks really awesome :)

Today were working on making textured fonts. We were supposed to pick something kind of old fashioned. The "Simmons Barber Shop" was what I did first. I altered the font a lot and think it looks pretty cool. I also added a scratchy texture to it. The next one I did was "The Pop Shop", I really like the ink splatter looking texture but I don't really like how the overall font turned out. The last one I did was "The Lolly Pop Shop". I used the same scratchy texture over the font and changed the color to pink. I like how they all turned out in the end.

The most recent project we've been working on is logo reproduction. I like working with different kinds of logos and changing them to look the way I want. For this project we looked though a bunch of logos...popular and not that popular, and pick the two that we want to change and alter. I chose to mess with the Capri Sun logo and the YMCA logo. I really liked the way the Capri Sun one turned out. I think it looks like a sophisticated Capri Sun brand..maybe Capri Sun for adults...haha, I don't know... Anyways...I liked working on this project but I wish I would of worked on the YMCA one longer...I don't really know if I like it that much.
